In case curiosity on these jokes’ author keeps your sleep away, you better find a good psych the first joke derives from an observation about software development management named after Fred Brooks.
In his 1975 book The Mythical Man-Month, Brooks observed that “adding human resources to a late software project makes it later”. In other words, even if adding more people to a highly divisible task decreases the overall task duration, many specialties in software projects are not so divisible. The same limited divisibility explains why, while it takes one woman nine months to make one baby, “nine women can’t make a baby in one month”.
I couldn’t find the authors of the other IT jokes. I guess Brooks’ law explanation ignited a chain reaction of office fun.
